Always Along the Inn to Passau

The Three-River City of Passau

If you follow the course of the Inn River northward, you'll quickly reach Passau. It's only a 20-minute drive by car, but you can also bike there along a romantic promenade. The Bavarian city of Passau, near the Austrian border, is known for its unique location: the baroque old town is situated on a peninsula surrounded by the confluence of three rivers. In Passau, the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers merge into one. Most Danube river cruises heading towards the Black Sea start from here. You can also travel from Schärding to Passau by water: an Inn River ship will take you to Passau in about an hour.

Discover Passau

Stroll through the old town and take a look at the historic alleys. Stroll through the well-stocked shops and enjoy the taste of the region with a glass of beer in one of the many inviting pubs. Most of the sights - first and foremost the Residence and the City Hall, but also churches and museums - are also located in the historic city centre. The largest cathedral organ in the world can be heard in St. Stephen's Cathedral. A guided tour of the city through the winding alleys is highly recommended, or - if you want to venture out on the water again - a round trip on the three rivers, where you can view the houses of the baroque city.
