A plethora of art and culture
The former trade centre as a hot spot for cultural activity
Schärding is located directly at the Inn river, which marks the Bavarian border. Its colourful townscape is lined with enchanting town houses from the 16th to 19th centuries. Amidst all this glory stands our Hotel Forstinger, itself a baroque building from the 17th century. The famous Silberzeile (“silver row”) with its late-baroque houses is right on our doorstep. The town wall of Schärding, which is mostly in good condition, with its medieval gates is another great sight. And even the picturesque Inn promenade is only a short walk away from our hotel.
A diverse leisure programme offers many options to those looking for culture or activity. Art lovers tend to gravitate towards the Alfred Kubin gallery with its many temporary exhibitions in the nearby town of Wernstein. Do not forget to explore the Heimathaus museum, the castle gallery and the Schärding Relaxation Path; enjoy a boat trip on the Inn river or go on a guided historical tour of the old town. And did you know that you can admire replicas of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and take Kneipp cures in Schärding? Once every year, Schärding becomes the starting location for the Race Around Austria bicycle race. There is always something going on in Schärding, and in our Hotel Forstinger, you are in the middle of the action!
